Tisha Ducas, R.N., with the Cutera Laser Titan® Laser
The revolutionary Titan® laser system provides non-invasive skin tightening. The most common treatment areas are the neck and abdomen. Typically three treatment sessions are performed, one each month. A fourth session may also be recommended at 6 -12 months. Titan® treatments require no downtime or anesthesia. During the treatment, a gel will be applied to the skin and the patient may fell a slight warm sensation. No anesthesia is required. Immediately following the treatment, you may or may not appreciate any visible change in the skin. The effect is usually observed several weeks afterward. The Titan® laser is ideal for patients who wish to avoid or postpone surgery or those who are not candidates for surgery. A comprehensive evaluation by Dr. Dowden or Dr. Kirn is completed prior to embarking on the Titan® protocol.
Laser Genesis
Laser Genesis is a non-ablative skin resurfacing treatment. The goal of treatment is to blend skin pigmentation to reduce discolorations, provide a generalized freshening of the skin, decrease fine wrinkles, and reduce pore size. It is not a treatment for deep wrinkles. Laser Genesis may also be effective for treatment of acne prone skin. The treatment has no downtime and the results are usually observed gradually after treatment and may continue for up to six months following the session. Many patients find that multiple Laser Genesis sessions provide an improved effect, so a special package of five treatments is also offered. The treatment requires no anesthesia.
IPL is useful for treatment of sun damage and skin discolorations on the face and body. It is especially useful for "brown" spots on the face, chest, and arms. Usually, multiple treatment sessions are required, depending on the number and severity of the discolorations. Immediately following the treatment, some patients do not see any instant change while others observe a darkening of the treated brown spots. With either situation, the discolorations usually fade over 1-2 weeks after treatment. IPL treatments require no anesthesia. Some small blood vessels are also effectively treated with IPL. Many older laser systems offered IPL, however Beauty MD's new Cutera system adds a dynamic skin cooling feature which makes the treatment non-painful and also allows for delivery of higher energy to yield a more effective result.
Vein Treatment
A high - energy 1064 nm beam coupled with active cooling provides effective removal or reduction of small vessels on the face and body. Specifically, "spider veins" on the face or legs can be treated as well as hemangiomas (cherry angiomas) and many other vascular lesions. Typically, the treatment area looks bruised and the vessels may appear darker immediately following the session. It usually requires 1-2 weeks for the vessels to fade out. Multiple treatments are usually required to treat patients with a large number of vessels. No anesthesia is required. Use of support stockings may be recommended for treatment of leg vessels. Although the laser is usually successful in decreasing the vessels you have, it does not prevent you from making more vessels in the future. Thus, maintainence treatments are sometimes necessary to maintain the most favorable result.
